How to choose a tarot spread
Use one card for a single point of reflection, the three-card Holy Triangle to connect cause, advice and possible development, and the ten-card Celtic Cross to separate several influences on one situation.
One card · a focused check-in
Ask what to pay attention to today. Note one image detail and write one action it suggests. If the prompt still feels too broad, narrow the question before drawing again.
Three cards · Holy Triangle
On BESTAROT the positions are cause, advice, and possible development. When the cards seem to disagree, read the advice as the hinge between the first and third cards.
Ten cards · Celtic Cross
Start with positions 1 and 2 (situation and crossing influence). Read position 10 as a possible direction in that context, then use the other positions to explain what could shape it.
One question, three levels of detail
Suppose you keep postponing a project. One card prompts you to name what you are avoiding. The Holy Triangle lets you separate why you are stuck, what you could try, and what might change. Use the Celtic Cross only if you also need to distinguish your own stance, outside constraints, and hopes or fears.
Is the Holy Triangle the same as past, present and future?
Both use three cards. BESTAROT’s Holy Triangle uses cause, advice, and possible development. Decide which positions you are using before you draw.
Editorial note and source
Waite’s book records a historical Celtic Cross layout. BESTAROT uses its own position labels, and the project example above is fictional.
